Fatal Fire Incident in Aberdeen
In the early hours of December 23, 2025, emergency services responded to a residential fire in Aberdeen. The Aberdeen Fire Rescue was alerted around 2:20 a.m. to a structure fire on Eighth Avenue SE, with reports suggesting people might be trapped inside.
Firefighters arriving at the scene found intense smoke and flames on the home's second floor. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the incident, as confirmed by both the Aberdeen Police Department and Aberdeen Fire Rescue.
The investigation into what caused the fire is currently underway. Multiple agencies are involved in determining the origin, including the Aberdeen Police Department, Aberdeen Fire Rescue, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the South Dakota Fire Marshal's Office.
