AI-Altered Video Falsely Portrays Pakistani Politician's Response to Military Criticism

Fabricated Video Circulates Online

Following controversial remarks by a military spokesperson about jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, a video began circulating on social media platforms that allegedly showed a political ally's defiant response. The footage, which gained significant attention after being posted on December 7, 2025, has since been identified as artificially manipulated.

Misrepresented Speech Content

The video purports to show Sohail Khan Afridi, chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, telling supporters: "ISPR Sir, you called Imran Khan a dog, a dog is an innocent animal. I would even sacrifice my life for Imran Khan. We are devoted to the love of Imran. Even the dogs living on our beloved's street are dearer to us than our own parents. If you call my leader a dog, we will love him even more."

These statements were presented as a reaction to military spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudry's earlier comments, where he reportedly dismissed online attacks on the military as similar to a "barking dog" and described Khan as a "mentally ill person" posing a national security threat.

Original Speech Reveals Different Message

Analysis of the actual speech delivered on December 7 reveals completely different content. At the corresponding timestamp, Afridi actually congratulated various party wings on a successful rally and thanked supporters for honoring him because of Imran Khan.

Later in his address, he responded to the military spokesperson's remarks by stating: "The DG of an institution did a press conference and used inappropriate words against me but I am from a Pashtun tribal area, I have not been raised to hurl abuses. I have been taught to love Pakistan and all of Pakistan's institutions."

AI Detection Confirms Manipulation

Technical analysis using AI-detection tools determined the circulated video was likely generated with artificial intelligence, showing a 100 percent probability of being fake. The manipulation included altered audio and voice characteristics that differed from the original recording.

No official reports have confirmed Afridi made the statements attributed to him in the falsified video, which has been shared across multiple social media platforms alongside critical commentary from viewers.
