Early Morning Tragedy on Interstate 71
In a tragic incident on Interstate 71 in Morrow County, a New York resident lost his life after being hit by a vehicle early Friday morning.
According to reports from WBNS, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to I-71 North in Harmony Township at approximately 1:40 a.m. following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered a man on the left shoulder of the interstate. He was pronounced dead at the location.
The victim has been identified as Hua Zheng, a 44-year-old from Brooklyn.
Investigation Reveals Fleeing Vehicle
Investigators determined that Zheng was struck by a vehicle that immediately left the area without stopping.
Troopers revealed that Zheng had previously been involved in a separate collision and had pulled over to the side of the road. He was outside his vehicle when he was hit by the fleeing car.
Authorities are now searching for what they believe to be a Chevrolet with damage to its front section.
