Service Outage Hits French Postal Network
On Monday, France's national postal service and its affiliated bank experienced significant operational disruptions believed to be caused by a cyberattack. The incident occurred during the peak Christmas period, creating widespread inconvenience for customers.
Online Services Become Inaccessible
La Poste confirmed that a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack made its digital platforms unavailable. While customer data remained secure, the technical issues severely impacted package and mail delivery operations.
At normally busy Paris post offices decorated with holiday ornaments, staff had to turn away numerous customers attempting to send or collect packages, including seasonal gifts.
Banking Services Also Affected
The banking division, La Banque Postale, encountered similar problems, preventing users from authorizing payments through their mobile applications. The institution temporarily shifted to SMS-based verification for transaction approvals.
"Our teams are mobilized to resolve the situation quickly," the bank communicated through social media channels.
