Frontier Airlines to End Paine Field Service

Frontier Airlines has announced it will stop flying from Paine Field next month. The airline confirmed on Thursday that its final flights from the airport will operate on January 5, 2026.

Alaska Airlines served as the sole carrier at Paine Field from 2021 until Frontier Airlines launched its service there in June 2025. Frontier initially offered routes connecting Paine Field to Denver, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, with flights scheduled three times weekly to each destination.

In addition to these domestic routes, Frontier also operated nonstop flights between Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (POP). The airline continues to provide service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

However, after just seven months of operation at Paine Field, Frontier is withdrawing from the airport. Reports from The Everett Herald indicate that the airline has not ruled out a future return.

“We greatly value our partnership with Paine Field and, as with any market departure, we will continue to evaluate a potential return at some point in the future,” the airline stated in an email, according to The Everett Herald.

Frontier Airlines operates as a low-cost carrier, offering base fares that are typically lower than average by charging separately for additional services. Passengers pay extra for amenities such as advance seat selection, overhead luggage storage, and food items including basic snacks.
