AI-Powered Surveillance Assists Law Enforcement
A technology company based in Georgia provided critical assistance to authorities investigating the Brown University shooting incident. Flock Safety's innovative systems helped track the suspect through advanced vehicle recognition capabilities.
Max Wienstein of Flock Safety explained their approach: "They started to automatically notify the detectives any time a vehicle matching that description went by." The company implemented a service called free form that utilizes artificial intelligence to identify vehicles based on their physical characteristics, even when license plates might be altered.
Essential Tool for Criminal Investigations
Providence officials confirmed the technology proved essential throughout the investigation process. It enabled authorities to monitor the suspect's movements, establish positive identification, and ultimately locate the individual.
Currently, 42 law enforcement agencies across Georgia employ Flock Safety's technology. This includes the recently opened DeKalb County real-time crime center, which began operations on Friday.
Wienstein emphasized the significance of this development: "This is absolutely the biggest change to law enforcement that I've ever had in my lifetime." The company anticipates their technology will continue supporting investigative work for years ahead.
