Officials from the Pennsylvania Turnpike have announced that approximately 7.4 million vehicles are projected to travel on the system between December 19 and January 1.

Before Christmas, the busiest travel days are anticipated to be December 19, December 22, and December 23. Following the holiday, December 29 and December 30 are expected to see the highest traffic volumes.

Travel Preparations and Safety Measures

Turnpike authorities advise drivers to prepare for various weather conditions during their journeys. They recommend utilizing the 511 service for up-to-date traffic and road condition information.

To facilitate smoother travel, all construction and maintenance work on the Turnpike will be halted throughout the holiday season, ensuring maximum lane availability.

Additionally, there will be an increased presence of Pennsylvania Turnpike personnel and Pennsylvania State Police along the roadway to assist travelers.
