Card Trading Event in Kansas Attracts Enthusiasts

In Wichita, Kansas, the trading card market is experiencing significant growth, with a major event bringing together collectors and sellers from throughout the state.

The Kansas Card Show, recognized as one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the region, featured more than 100 vendors offering a variety of items including sports trading cards, games, and entertainment products. The event took place at Maize High School.

Austin Nguyen, a lifelong card collector with an estimated collection of several thousand cards, discussed his involvement in the hobby. He has been a vendor for approximately one year.

Nguyen emphasized that selling cards is not just about financial gain but also about fostering community connections. "It’s kinda like when people say support your local businesses, it’s kinda the same concept where you get better deals in person and build and establish connections with some vendors that you’ve seen before," Nguyen said.

He expressed that his favorite aspect of being a vendor is creating nostalgic experiences for others. "I think a lot of people grew up with Pokémon so it’s cool to have mementos of cards that remind you of better times or just your favorite moments opening up cards with family and whatnot," he added.
