Mannequin Protest Targets Israeli Officials Over Immigration Concerns

Activists placed decapitated mannequins at officials' homes, blaming illegal immigrants for violent crimes in Tel Aviv neighborhoods.

Mannequin Protest Targets Israeli Officials Over Immigration Concerns

Activists from the "Front for the Liberation of South Tel Aviv" staged a protest on Friday by positioning headless mannequins outside the residences of former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak, retired Justice Uzi Vogelman, and Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai.

The mannequins bore signs expressing frustration with the situation of undocumented migrants in Israel, alleging they contribute to increased violent crime.

One sign at Barak's home stated: "You boasted about abolishing the infiltration laws. We got decapitated heads." Another at Vogelman's read: "You wanted hobbies. We got decapitated heads." Huldai's displayed: "You said a person is a person is a person. We got decapitated heads."

The demonstration referenced a November incident in Kyriat Shalom, where a man was found decapitated in a park.

Residents Voice Safety Fears

The group explained the protest stemmed from "a deep sense of distress and anger among residents of the city's southern neighborhoods."

In a statement, they remarked: "Their compassion is our disaster. There is no reason why we should be the only ones enjoying the cultural wealth that was forced upon us."

Sheffi Paz, the movement's chairman, shared concerns: "A resident of Kiryat Shalom said that she can no longer take her dog for a walk in the park in fear of getting jumped by an infiltrator with a machete. A child in the Shapira neighborhood said he can no longer play in the garden for fear that the children of infiltrators will lynch him."
