A resident of Gloucester Township has been taken into custody on allegations of using stolen identities to file for and receive SNAP benefits.
Officials report that Andre Streater, aged 36, illicitly acquired the personal details of more than 40 people during the summer and filed false applications for assistance.
All submissions reportedly listed Streater's personal phone number.
Authorities uncovered the suspected scheme, with Christine Henitsz, Director of the Camden County Board of Social Services, stating, "Our staff reviews everything, and they started seeing some irregularities in the information. They all came in within a day of each other, all using the same address, but the rest of the information was different. It caused staff to question it."
Investigators allege Streater transferred funds from the SNAP payments into his private bank account via Cash App.
Police confirm total fraudulent requests exceeded $128,000.
