Ohio Police Officer Narrowly Escapes Injury During Target Shoplifting Incident

On Monday evening, an officer from the Avon Police Department was almost struck by a vehicle while responding to a reported shoplifting at a Target store.

Authorities received the call about the theft at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The individuals suspected of the crime attempted to escape in a white Chevrolet SUV but found themselves stuck in traffic, as reported by local news outlet WOIO.

When the officer ordered the driver to stop the vehicle, the suspects instead put it in reverse, hitting another car before driving onto the sidewalk, coming dangerously close to the officer.

A pursuit ensued, with the suspects' vehicle reportedly reaching speeds near 115 miles per hour.

Due to the extreme speeds and a lack of available support from nearby law enforcement, police made the decision to terminate the chase for safety reasons.
