Emergency Response to Washington Flooding
Historic flooding in Western Washington has led the American Red Cross to assist numerous families in need. The organization reported providing 2,224 overnight stays across 30 emergency shelters since the flooding began in early December.
Relief efforts included distributing over 9,300 items such as comfort kits to those impacted. A total of 1,744 households required assistance following the disaster.
The Red Cross's Northwest Region typically responds to emergencies every six hours at no cost to recipients. With many families facing hardship during Christmas, the organization plans to offer gifts to displaced children.
Donations can be delivered to Candlewood Suites in Sumner on Wednesday.
