Child's Death Under Investigation
Last week, the tragic death of six-year-old Dominique Moody has drawn significant attention, as she weighed a mere 27 pounds at the time of her passing while under the supervision of her legal guardian, Susan Robinson. Robinson is currently being held without bond in connection with the case.
Allegations of Severe Confinement
Authorities have disclosed that the young girl was reportedly confined in a dog crate and restrained with duct tape, raising serious concerns about the treatment she endured. The residence where she was kept has been described by officials as a "house of horrors," with police noting that the crate was used as part of her confinement.
When Dominique was discovered unresponsive, Robinson "refused to assist, call 911, or report abuse and neglect," according to police statements. Her weight was found to be significantly below the average of approximately 45 pounds for children her age.
Community Reaction and Legal Proceedings
Witness Jacqueline Lewis, a mother and concerned citizen, expressed profound sorrow over the incident. "As a mother, I would never, ever do anything like that to my child, to anyone else's child," Lewis said, reflecting the emotional impact on the local community.
Robinson, who served as the legal guardian for Dominique and four other children ranging from 1 to 6 years old, now faces charges related to the girl's treatment and death. There are claims that Robinson alleged Dominique's mother had abused the child for a year and a half before her passing.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation continues to explore whether additional charges will be filed and if others were involved in the neglect. Authorities are also examining whether the Department of Social Services had received prior alerts about the conditions in the home.
