New Healthcare Career Initiative Announced
Adventist Health has unveiled a fresh workforce development effort designed to motivate young individuals toward medical professions.
This initiative, named LAUNCH, which represents "Learning and Understanding New Careers in Healthcare," seeks to ignite enthusiasm among students.
"We believe that we can spark that interest, spark that passion, that energy in a student," stated Kiyoshi Tomono, Partnership and Marketing Executive at Adventist Health Central California Network.
Tomono emphasized the goal of nurturing local talent for future employment within the organization.
"The program is really about young folks exploring the possibility that healthcare is a career for them, not just in the clinical space," Tomono added.
Open to participants aged 16 and above, LAUNCH offers experiential learning, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities across various healthcare environments, including hospital and outpatient settings.
"It would be great for all of us if that student knows what they're getting into and is passionate about it," Tomono remarked.
The program is scheduled to commence in February at Adventist Health facilities in Bakersfield and Hanford, with plans to extend to six additional hospitals and medical offices in Central California later.
Structured into three levels based on experience and objectives, LAUNCH aims to provide clear insights into healthcare roles and help address industry shortages.
"We'd love to see and kind of teach to the book, the kind of people that we want in these roles and be able to hire at the end of it too," Tomono said.
Applications for the first round are currently available and will close on January 4th, welcoming high school and college students, as well as those seeking new career paths in healthcare.
