Brooklyn Blaze Injures Five, Damages Multiple Homes

A significant fire erupted in a residential building on Humboldt Street in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood during the early hours of Monday, resulting in multiple injuries.

The blaze, which started shortly before 2 a.m., quickly grew in intensity and extended to at least three adjacent properties.

Emergency crews responded with numerous hoses, working for an extended period to contain the flames. Their strategy involved dismantling sections of the structure to apply water more effectively.

A local resident expressed profound sympathy for a friend impacted by the disaster. "She's just crying hysterically and her dog," stated neighbor Bianca Arroyo. "I just feel so bad for her you know, she's just lost everything."

Medical personnel treated two occupants for burns, transporting them to a specialized unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Officials described their injuries as minor burns affecting the face and other body parts.

Additionally, three firefighters received medical attention for minor injuries sustained during the operation.

Authorities noted that frigid temperatures presented significant challenges at the scene, causing water to freeze on the ground. "During this cold weather, we have to relieve our units very frequently," explained FDNY Chief of Operations Kevin Woods.

The Buildings Department is scheduled to assess the structural integrity of the affected home. Investigators are currently working to determine the origin of the fire.
