Water Infrastructure Enhancement in Butler

A significant infrastructure initiative has been launched in Butler, involving substantial investment to upgrade water systems. This project is designed to benefit local waterways through improved wastewater management.

According to Pennsylvania American Water representatives, the work in Alameda Park will enhance wastewater service capabilities while supporting watershed conservation objectives.

The project involves replacing approximately 3,700 feet of outdated wastewater piping with a more robust and efficient system. This upgrade is intended to optimize sewer flow and minimize stormwater entry, thereby decreasing the likelihood of sewer overflows. These improvements will help safeguard Sullivan Run and adjacent recreational zones.

Additional components of the initiative include the installation of 20 new manholes and a directional bore beneath Route 422 to place the new pipeline without disrupting highway operations.

Construction activities will be concentrated in the lower section of Alameda Park, which will be inaccessible to vehicles during the project period. Completion is anticipated by June. A segment of the Alameda Park Multi-Use Trail will also be temporarily closed.
