According to Thursday's report from the U.S. Department of Labor, initial applications for unemployment benefits in Texas showed a decline during the most recent week.

The Labor Department indicated that new claims, which serve as an indicator of layoff activity, decreased to 15,890 for the week ending December 13. This represents a reduction from the previous week's total of 19,853 claims.

On a national level, seasonally adjusted unemployment claims fell to 224,000 last week, marking a decrease of 13,000 from the prior week's figure of 237,000.

Among states, Rhode Island experienced the most significant percentage rise in weekly claims, with an increase of 46.8%. Conversely, Georgia recorded the largest percentage decline, with new claims dropping by 50.4%.
