Fatal Dog Attack in Bremerton

A tragic incident occurred in unincorporated Bremerton earlier this week, resulting in the death of a dog and injuries to multiple individuals. The event took place on December 17 when a leashed pitbull managed to break free and aggressively targeted a Rhodesian Ridgeback that was being walked by its owner, who was using a mobility scooter.

Subsequently, three additional dogs owned by the same individual as the pitbull rushed through an open door and participated in the assault. The man on the scooter and his pet were attacked, along with bystanders who attempted to intervene and those observing the situation.

Law enforcement officers from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office attempted to use pepper spray on some of the dogs, but this measure proved ineffective. By the time the owner regained control of the animals, eight people had sustained injuries, with most requiring hospital treatment for serious bite wounds.

Sadly, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, referred to as "Jasper," succumbed to the injuries inflicted during the attack. The 28-year-old owner of the pitbulls is currently under investigation for potential violations of Washington State's Dangerous Dogs law.
