FDA Expands Recall of Frozen Shrimp Over Radioactive Contamination Concerns

Recall Expansion for Frozen Shrimp Products

Federal health authorities have broadened a product recall involving frozen shrimp available at a prominent supermarket chain. The action follows concerns about possible radioactive contamination in these imported seafood items.

Affected Products and Details

The recall now encompasses frozen raw shrimp distributed under the Waterfront Bistro brand at Jewel-Osco locations. Products with specific expiration dates of April 25 and April 26, 2027, are included in this safety alert.

According to regulatory filings, over 83,000 packages of these shrimp imported from Indonesia are being removed from the market. The Food and Drug Administration indicates the products may contain radioactive isotopes.

To date, no adverse health effects have been reported in connection with these products. Officials strongly recommend that consumers who have purchased the recalled shrimp dispose of them immediately or return them to the place of purchase.
