Israeli forces confirm the death of a key Hamas financial operative involved in transferring millions to support military activities against Israel.

Hamas Finance Official Eliminated in Joint Operation

Israeli military authorities have confirmed the elimination of a significant figure in Hamas's financial network. Abdel Hay Zaqout, who served in the financial division of the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in a targeted operation two weeks ago.

Details of the Operation

The strike occurred during an action that also resulted in the death of senior Hamas commander Ra'ad Sa'ad. Zaqout, a resident of Gaza City, was reportedly responsible for channeling substantial funds, amounting to tens of millions of dollars, to support the group's military efforts against Israel.

"The IDF and the Shin Bet will continue their efforts to disrupt the financing of terrorism and will act against all those involved in terrorism or in providing assistance to plan and carry out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel," stated IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee in a social media announcement.

Background on Ra'ad Sa'ad

Ra'ad Sa'ad, a high-ranking commander within the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in the same operation. Military intelligence indicated that Sa'ad had been actively working to restore and produce weaponry for Hamas in recent times.

The strike targeting Sa'ad was conducted in retaliation for an attack on Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip, where an improvised explosive device was used. This incident resulted in two soldiers sustaining minor injuries, who were subsequently taken to a medical facility for treatment.
