Shooting Incident in Alief
Authorities reported that a woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by an individual known to her.
The incident occurred prior to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Ashford Casa Bella Apartments located on Beechnut Street near Cinnamon Lane in the Alief neighborhood.
Arrest Made
Following the shooting, law enforcement officers apprehended a male suspect later that same night.
The Houston Police Department indicated the man is charged with aggravated assault and also faces a charge for being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 42-year-old female victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower part of her body. Before being transported to the hospital, the victim was able to inform police about the identity of the shooter.
Investigation Details
Shortly after the shooting was reported, police received a call regarding a suspicious person armed with a weapon in the vicinity. This led to the apprehension of a man connected to the assault on the woman.
While officials have not released the suspect's name, they confirmed that he and the victim are in a relationship.
Local residents expressed their hopes for the woman's recovery.
