Hyundai Issues U.S. Recall Over Fire Risk in Trailer Wiring

Recall Announcement

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Wednesday that Hyundai Motor is recalling 51,587 vehicles in the United States. The recall addresses a potential fire risk stemming from a short circuit in non-operational trailer lights, which is caused by improper installation of the wiring harness.

Safety Instructions

To mitigate the hazard, vehicle owners are instructed to park their cars outside and at a distance from buildings until the necessary recall repairs have been performed. Dealers will carry out the fix by replacing the trailer wiring harness at no cost to consumers, the NHTSA stated.
