ICE Enforcement Disproportionately Affects Latino Community, Report Reveals

Recent research highlights concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations and their effects on Latino populations.

Findings from the New York Immigration Coalition indicate that ICE agents frequently focus on individuals of Latino descent during arrests.

Data from the coalition and University of Colorado reveals that about three-quarters of those detained by ICE are Latino, with roughly 70% lacking any criminal history or prior convictions.

The study also notes that heightened immigration enforcement can hinder business hiring and restrict economic expansion for companies.

Mario Bruzzone, vice president of policy at the New York Immigration Coalition, will appear on Tiempo to address these issues.

Additionally, Queens Councilman Francisco Moya will join the program to talk about affordable housing initiatives he has promoted in Queens.

Moya will provide updates on the new soccer stadium set to become the permanent venue for the New York City Football Club and discuss the upcoming FIFA World Cup's local impact.

Tiempo broadcasts on Sunday mornings at 11:30 on WABC-TV Channel 7 in New York City.
