Officials reported Wednesday morning that the outbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway on Chicago's Northwest Side have been reopened following an investigation into a possible shooting incident.
According to state police, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. near Division Street on Interstate 90.
Troopers were observed on the highway at approximately 6:45 a.m., conducting what appeared to be an investigation.
The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications stated that all outbound lanes were closed from Augusta Boulevard to North Avenue during the investigation.
Police confirmed that no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
The closure resulted in traffic backups on the highway, but the roadway was reopened to traffic around 7 a.m.
The temporary shutdown occurred on Christmas Eve morning, a time when many travelers are typically headed to O'Hare International Airport.
