Leadership Transition Announced
Larry Antonucci has communicated to the Lee Health board of directors his decision not to extend his contract beyond its conclusion on September 30, 2026. He described this as a difficult choice but emphasized his belief in the health system's solid foundation.
"Our health system is resilient, and our teams across every corner of the organization are united by our mission and empowered by a bold, focused strategy that positions us well for the future," Antonucci stated.
Ensuring a Smooth Handover
Over the coming year, Antonucci will remain fully dedicated to leading Lee Health and facilitating a well-organized transition. He expressed full trust in the Board's capacity to select an appropriate successor to continue the organization's longstanding commitment to community-focused healthcare, a legacy he has upheld since assuming the roles of president and CEO in 2017.
Reflecting on his career, Antonucci noted it has been a profound honor to work in Southwest Florida. His early years as an OB/GYN were deeply meaningful, and he remains moved when individuals mention he delivered them or their children. Transitioning into leadership allowed him to find new avenues to positively influence community health.
