Police Respond to Suspicious Activity Report

Leicester police officers were dispatched to Pleasant Street at approximately 11:45 a.m. on December 20 following a report of a suspicious individual. According to authorities, a caller had observed a man walking through a residential yard and attempting to gain entry into a house.

Officers quickly located an individual matching the description provided by the witness. The person was identified as Michael Burnette, a 59-year-old resident of Southbridge.

Arrest and Charges

During the encounter, police conducted a search of Burnette. Authorities reported finding two knives, drug paraphernalia, and what was suspected to be crack cocaine in his possession.

Burnette was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering, along with one count of Possession of a Class B Controlled Substance.

Following his arrest, Burnette was held on $2,500 cash bail. He was arraigned at East Brookfield District Court on December 22, according to police statements.
