Bridge Closure Scheduled for January

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a bridge on Route 232 (Second Street Pike) in Northampton will be closed for repairs during most of January. The closure was confirmed in a December 18 announcement.

Detour and Traffic Information

From January 6 through January 30, a full-time detour will be implemented between Twining Road and Sacketts Ford Road. Local access will remain available throughout this period. Through traffic will be redirected via Route 332 (Newtown Richboro Road/Richboro Road), the Newtown Bypass (Route 413/Route 532), and Swamp Road.

The affected bridge, constructed in 1936, is a single-span, one-lane structure that typically handles approximately 6,000 vehicles each day.
