Powerful Winds Sweep Across New Jersey, Causing Widespread Disruptions

On Friday morning, strong winds battered numerous areas of New Jersey as a robust storm system and cold front moved through the region, with peak gusts recorded at 56 mph.

Although the most intense rainfall has subsided in many parts of the state, additional powerful winds are expected to intensify behind the storm system later in the afternoon and into Friday night.

Wind advisories have been issued for all 21 counties, remaining active until 1 a.m. on Saturday, due to the potential for gusts strong enough to topple trees and disrupt power lines.

As of 9 a.m. on Friday, over 12,000 power outages were reported by the state's major utility companies.
