Israeli Naval Unit Captures Key Hezbollah Maritime Terrorist

In a significant counterterrorism operation, Israeli special forces apprehended Imad Amahz, a prominent member of Hezbollah's clandestine maritime terror apparatus. The mission was executed by the elite Shayetet 13 naval unit in Al-Batroun, a coastal town in northern Lebanon situated approximately 140 kilometers from Israeli territory.

According to military statements, Amahz provided crucial intelligence during interrogation. "Amahz revealed that he played a key role in Hezbollah’s covert maritime framework and disclosed details about some of the organization’s most sensitive and tightly compartmentalized programs," the IDF reported.

The operation, conducted one year ago, successfully hindered Hezbollah's maritime capabilities at a pivotal moment. "The operation enabled the IDF to disrupt the advancement of the covert maritime portfolio at a critical juncture, preventing its consolidation within Hezbollah," military officials stated.

Network Operations and Objectives

Investigations revealed that the network, directly overseen by former Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah, aimed to utilize commercial vessels for attacks against Israel. These activities focused on transporting military personnel, weapons, equipment, and other assets.

Amahz indicated that such operations could target both Israeli and international interests. He remarked, "As long as you had people, money, and a ship its possible to do an operation." The captured terrorist possessed substantial naval expertise, having received training at the Lebanese Civil Naval Institute.

During questioning, Amahz identified Hezbollah leaders involved in the network, all of whom were subsequently neutralized in subsequent conflicts. The IDF released video footage of the interrogation, highlighting Nasrallah's direct involvement in the maritime terror scheme.
