Police Operation Leads to Arrests in Southern Israel
Israeli law enforcement officers conducted a raid in Rahat, resulting in the detention of three individuals identified as Gaza terrorists. These suspects are believed to have crossed into Israel during the October 7 massacre.
During the operation, authorities discovered a significant cache of weapons. This included 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition and multiple 7.62 Kalashnikov rounds.
An iron lathe was also found at the location. Officials indicated that this equipment may have been utilized for activities related to weapon production.
The arrested individuals and all confiscated materials have been handed over to the Shin Bet for additional investigation and processing.
Background on Rahat and Previous Incidents
Rahat is recognized as the largest Arab city in southern Israel, predominantly inhabited by Bedouin communities. It is situated just north of Beersheba.
This incident follows earlier reports from November 2023, when two Hamas terrorists were arrested in Rahat about a month after the October 7 attacks. Those arrests were disclosed two weeks after they occurred.
