An Ohio police officer who sustained injuries during a training session last week has been discharged from medical care.
Incident Details
The event occurred during a break at a tactical unit training exercise in Delaware. According to reports, a firearm belonging to another officer unintentionally fired once.
The injured officer, identified as Curtis Myers, was struck in the hand and thigh. Emergency personnel transported him to Mount Carmel East Hospital for treatment.
Recovery and Investigation
Myers was released on Saturday and is now at home recuperating. He has served with the Westerville Division of Police for approximately five years.
Following the incident, the officer responsible for the accidental discharge has been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure in such cases.
Both the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Westerville Division of Police have initiated reviews of the event to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
