In Paterson, New Jersey, a special holiday gathering brought smiles to children and parents just before Christmas.
The New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) organized its yearly celebration on Christmas Eve morning, marking the 32nd edition of this tradition.
More than 700 families participated in the festivities, where each child received a box containing three toys as gifts.
Gabrielle Foushee, one of the organizers, emphasized the significance of the event for struggling families.
"It's very important because families are in desperate need of love, support and even finances. So, everything that is here is donated," Foushee said.
Children enjoyed various activities including a visit from Santa Claus, games, and craft projects during the celebration.
Tabitha Louis, a parent attending with her children, shared her positive experience.
"There's a lot of enjoyment, happiness here. I feel the spirit and God is good," Louis said.
Interestingly, some attendees noted that Santa bore a resemblance to Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh, though the mayor clarified he was occupied with other matters at City Hall during the event.
This annual gathering represents NJCDC's longest-running tradition, having begun in 1994 when the organization was first established.
